Cannot tell it(GUI) to auto-mount any new swap partition

Using System settings|Disks I select a partition and format. I chose "custom filesystem" and manually entered "swap", which it accepted. I am able to mount it as swapspace - however, if I click the pair of gears I see the "Edit mount options" is grayed out so I cannot choose "mount at startup".
