gedit-3.10.4: mouse pointer hides and flickers when Control key is pressed

Description

When I open gedit and press the control key, the cursor get invisible. It only shows when I move the mouse by flickering.

As you can imagine this is very annoying as the Control key is used as a shortcut key to copy, cut, paste, save, etc.

I asked this was a bug in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/276152 but the Ubuntu users did not complain.

Somebody here [1] suggested it might be ibus related.
