Flickering screen problem

On a Dell E4310 laptop on which I am using Trisquel, the screen is constantly flickering, starting from the Dell proprietary bootloader as visible at https://nuage.chalec.org/index.php/s/aH9tZTtdTSA9pFz. I used this laptop as a photoframe, when a photo is displayed I can see that a small top part of the screen is fine, a slightly larger bottom part is nearly ok (5 white lines close to each other near the bottom, but rest ok), then that bottom part is duplicated above, alternating with the what should be there. On some photos it is visible it is duplicated more than once.

Is replacing the screen the way to repair this, or is there chance that it is another problem?
