My main user I have has a crashing problem on my computer. I made another user and this new user works fine.

This is on Triskel 11. Now, every time I log in to the original user, a box pops up saying there was a crash with ksplashqml. I was wondering what is the debugger it is requesting. I have gdb installed and installed apport for the crash reports.

Searching "ksplashqml" on the Web, many different issues pop up. What is the exact error message?

I don't have a specific error message.

It gives a signal Segmentation Fault (11). drkonqi is looking for debugger. I installed kubuntu-debug-installer, but I may have to try logging in again.

ps ax reveals the process "/usr/bin/ksplashqml org.triskel.desktop"

I would have attached a crash report, but it is 4.1 MB above the 2MB limit of the forum.

Kubuntu 21.10 users faced such a segmentation fault: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1393943/ksplashqml-crash-on-startup

Some have reported random fixes such as upgrading the kernel or changing the display manager. You can try them, if you want. However, Trisquel 11 being based on Ubuntu 22.04, that may not help and you may prefer to simply migrate your data to your new user.

Segmentation faults should never happen. That is why it would make sense to report the bug to KDE... but the developers will probably not investigate the issue unless it occurs on the latest version or, at least, in the latest LTS version of a major distribution.

Dr. Konqi uses GDB, although you don't need to go through Dr. Konqi's GUI if it's not working: the Crashed Processes Viewer should also work, and you can manually submit the trace to KDE Bugzilla. You might merely need to wait, though, for for larger stack traces, it looks hung when it's not.

I split the crash file into 3 pieces. These could be concatenated back together with the cat command. I don't what to look for in it.
