mkv2vob Equivalent in Trisquel?

Hello,

Is there free software capable of transcoding/converting video files in .mkv to .mpg whilst adding subtitles?
On Windows, there is mkv2vob.

I believe VLC can do that. 'mencoder' too.

Nothing beats the command line interface. There's no reason to shun it or be afraid to use it.

Make up your mind what you want to achieve, find out the command line to do it; rinse and repeat.
